Some Recent Work by Convergence Research
- On the Brink: Nuclear Debt, Subsidies,
and the Future of the Bonneville Power Administration, September 1996
BPA says that they can't compete in a restructured industry environment because
it's too expensive to save wild salmon. It's not true. The real reason is BPA's
continuing inability to face up to reality.
BPA hated this study so much that they declared all of their detailed sales
data (publicly available since 1947) to be proprietary information. Convergence
Research has filed an appeal of BPA's rejection
of our Freedom of Information Act request for current sales data.
- Really Simple Toolkit for estimating
Bonneville Power Administration probability of default, June 1995 (Excel
file)
Forget all the smoke and mirrors. Here is how you calculate BPA's probability
of going broke in the next five years, stripped to its fundamental components.
- Emission reduction options for the Hermiston Generating
Project, February 1994
In 1994, US Generation Company asked Convergence Research and MicroDesign Northwest
to do a reconnaissance level study of carbon dioxide emission offset options
for a 470 MW generation project in Oregon. This is the analysis that went into
that study.
- Electric generating resource emissions cost database,
February 1994 (Excel file)
How much does it cost to trash the environment? This model matches three
dozen estimates of the environmental cost of emissions with your favorite electric
generation option to give you an idea of how much money is on the table.
